Nursery Furniture

Wes and I traveled to Orlando this past Saturday to attend a nursery decorating class at Pottery Barn Kids. (Don't I have a great, supportive husband!!) I would like to say that we took a lot away from this class, but it was totally pointless! The only up side was getting to see all of the PBK furniture in person.

There were two, rather insecure, moms in this class, who asked some interesting questions. For example, "Is it ok for a boy to have white furniture?" She then went on to say that she bought her son white nursery furniture, but her MIL told her that boys should not have white furniture. She wanted to ask PBK if it was ok, so the next time she saw her MIL, she could tell her that PB told her it was fine. This conversation went on for about 15 minutes, and I'm pretty sure everyone in the room felt a little awkward!

Once Wes and I got back to Gainesville, I spent the rest of the day researching nursery furniture. There are so many options out there, and I feel like it is hard to make a decision without seeing the furniture in person. I really LIKED PBK furniture! It is a little pricey, but I would be willing to spend the extra money since Wes and I plan on using this furniture for our next baby. However, their shipping prices are ridiculous! I guess I am a little spoiled, because we have either bought our furniture in town - no shipping fees - or from Overstock where shipping was $2.95 for your entire order. I just think it is crazy to spend $200 - $400 on shipping for two pieces of furniture. (Crib & Changing table - Wes and I plan on finding a nightstand and shelf at a garage sale to refinish and paint a fun color!)

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child has AWESOME baby furniture, and they have flat rate shipping - $95 - for your entire furniture order. However, their cribs are $800 - $1100....I think that is definitely out of our budget! We did go to the Super Target in Orlando to look at their baby furniture, but surprisingly, they only had one crib setup. So, it was hard to get a feel for what they have. I would like to go to Babies R Us to see their selection.

As you can tell, my mind is completely consumed by the baby! This week it is nursery furniture, I'm sure it will be something different next week. I am starting to get really excited, I can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or a girl!!
