The whole concept of being pregnant hasn't totally set in yet. (Probably b/c the news is still relatively new, and I am only 6 weeks along.) Since there was some confusion with my estimated due date (EDD), the doctor wanted me to come in for a sonogram this past Friday. This may sound bad, but I was extremely happy there was confusion with EDD, or else we would have had to wait until week 13 to see our little nugget. It was amazing to see our TINY baby (currently measuring at 5.4mm) on the screen, and the pulsing light coming from his/her tiny body indicating its heartbeat. I can't wait until our next sonogram to see how much the baby has grown!
Luckily, I haven't had any morning sickness yet! Now, I know since I am only six weeks pregnant there is still a high chance I might start having symptoms in the next couple of weeks. Crossing my fingers that doesn't happen!! The only side effect I have noticed thus far is, I get light headed very easily. Wes thinks I am having this problem, because I am not drinking enough water. I am going to have to make a conscious effort to drink more water....I'm just not a person that typically consume a lot of fluids.
What happens at 6 weeks:
Right now, our baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean. His/her nose, mouth and ears are beginning to take shape! His/her intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His/her pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles and bones.

New Job, New Opportunities
Today is the last Monday I will ever work for the UF Alumni Association. It has been a fun ride, and I know I am going to miss many aspects of this place (mostly football tickets). However, I am so excited to start my new job - Coordinator of Alumni Affairs for the College of Pharmcy - next Monday.
My new position will keep me on my toes and, hopefully, teach me many things about fundraising and event planning. The events I planned for the UFAA were all very similar, so once I got one down, it wasn't too hard to plan the others. My new position will offer me a lot of variety. I'll be planning everything from board meetings, to reunions, to golf tournaments, etc. I have never organized a board meeting or golf tournament before, so I am eager to learn and grow. Another perk is that the COP is located right next to the hospital, so I'm hoping Wes and I will able to eat lunch together once in a while.
